Nicole and Ed have known of each other for about twenty years, as the San Francisco-native couple attended the same schools growing up. Although there was little interaction between them in the early years, Nicole’s and Ed’s lives indirectly crossed each other throughout this time.
Nicole has a particular 5th grade memory where she brought a yo-yo to school. As she excitedly clutched onto it on her way to recess, she passed by Ed, and claims he saw her yo-yo and yelled, “News FAH-LASH! Yo-yos aren't cool anymore!” She was sad for the rest of the day and Ed has no recollection of the incident.
Little did the couple know, one day they would be tying the knot to be together forever. After reacquainting at a church fellowship a decade later, the couple began dating. When Nicole spent a couple years in grad school across the country, Ed came up with the idea of proposing to her on a road trip back to California after her graduation. As Ed and Nicole embarked on their two-week journey home, they toured the nation, traveling 4,262 miles through 14 states. On the last day of their trip, Ed made a stop at a vista point of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is here that Ed proposed and Nicole said yes! She was surprised again later that day when she was met with all their closest family and friends at her welcome home party which doubled as their secret engagement party. It really was the best way to come home, and the couple is so excited for this new chapter!
